The DZWF Team is currently undergoing major changes. The decision was already made some time ago that next to a TT / Job Team headed by Sepp Veldkamp we would also build a Climbing Team, up till now headed by Coen De Jong.
The team already attracted some young riders with some climbing skills but none had any real climbing potential so we had to look for more experienced riders. We first attracted the 30 Year old Egerton Sprigg but before the actually transfer was made we also spotted that Dacio Veron was on the hire list and since he was really looking for a job, we could hire him pretty cheap.
This resulted in some budgeting issues and by accident Sepp Veldkamp his topform was triggered as well. In topform Sepp finished again on the podium, for the 8th time in total, 7 times as 2nd. Sepp is still waiting for his first win but so far he's funding most of the team's activities.
Because of Sepp's great result we earned enough money to buy both riders, while we only had to let go Bikkel Zuidema who was already prepared to be released from the team.
Not only did Sepp earn enough money, he also scored enough points to promote DZWF to Division 5. Something we had taken into account but actually preferred to happen a little later during the season as we had already planned the Team's whole schedule in Division 6.
Probably we will be relegated to Division 6 soon again which is fine, meanwhile Guus Veldkamp & Kevin Kok are being prepared to be released so we can make room for a new rider, possibly even a new captain!
At the moment we are unsure if either the young Coen De Jong or the old but experienced Egerton Sprigg should captain the team but the idea is to attract a relatively young new captain so that both riders can perform as strong Teammate.
As said big changes and great achievements!
